About the Bulldog

Bulldogs have a short, smooth coat that sheds moderately year‑round. Their biggest grooming needs are skin care, wrinkle cleaning, and keeping moisture out of skin folds. Because of their compact build and sensitive skin, Bulldogs benefit from gentle, moisturizing products and regular maintenance.

Step‑By‑Step Grooming Guide

1. Brush the Coat
Use a rubber curry brush to loosen dead hair and stimulate the skin. Follow with a bristle brush to smooth the coat.

2. Clean the Wrinkles
Bulldogs are prone to yeast and bacterial buildup in their skin folds. Use wrinkle wipes to clean between folds, then dry thoroughly.

3. Clean the Ears
Use ear cleaner and cotton to wipe the outer ear. Avoid inserting anything deep into the canal.

4. Trim the Nails
Bulldogs often dislike nail trims, so do small trims more often. Use a grinder or clippers.

5. Bathe the Bulldog
Bathe every 3–4 weeks using diluted moisturizing shampoo. Rinse thoroughly to avoid residue in skin folds.

6. Dry the Coat
Use a shammy towel, then a microfiber towel. Use an HV dryer on low to dry the coat and wrinkles completely.

7. Tidy the Feet & Face
Use thinning shears to neaten the feet and lightly tidy facial hair if needed.

8. Apply Leave‑In Conditioner
Work a small amount through the coat to reduce dryness and add shine.

Wrinkle Care

Wrinkles must be cleaned and dried daily or every other day. Moisture trapped in folds can cause infections quickly.

Eye & Ear Care

Bulldogs often have tear staining and debris buildup. Use eye wipes daily and ear cleaner weekly.

Final Thoughts

Bulldogs are low‑maintenance in coat care but high‑maintenance in skin care. With consistent wrinkle cleaning and gentle grooming, you can keep your Bulldog healthy and comfortable.

But these tools pay for themselves faster than you think.

A typical groom costs $70–$120. If you go every 4–6 weeks, the tools usually pay for themselves in 3–5 grooms.

But the money isn't even the biggest part.

  • You know exactly how your dog is being treated.
  • No contamination from other dogs.
  • No chance of your dog being drugged without your knowledge.
  • No rough handling behind closed doors.
  • No stress from loud salons or unfamiliar animals.
  • Your dog stays in the place they feel safest — home.

Your dog trusts you more than anyone. Grooming them yourself honors that trust.
